You have a brilliant message for the world! You have gained authority and passion in your life and your work! Yet when you stand up to speak before an audience, your mind is numb, your limbs are leaden, and your own voice sounds to you like it belongs to someone else. You might ask yourself, who is that masked speaker?
Our goal as speakers is to show keen intelligence and to lead effective presentation, facilitation and dialogue. Here is the good news, we are not just the content of our words. To speak true, the content of our words beg to be met by the passions of our emotions. To become great speakers, we need to navigate our presentations with both body and emotional intelligence.
Think of it this way, an audience responds to congruency. This includes your content, your gestures and body language, and the quality of your vocal tone. The more comfortable you are in your own skin, the more comfortable and receptive your audience becomes. The sweet truth is that humanbeings are hard wired to seek congruency and meaning. As you speak, navigate the present moment. Your presence is felt and heard by your audience. Find your gravity and connect with yourself. Find your posture and connect with the room. Launch your words and connect with your audience.
Make your language alive and living. Give your words meaning. Fill them with your body, breath and emotion, and connect with flesh and bones of feeling and sense.
